adidas vs. Amnesty International

Today I just saw the news about the scandal of TBWA. TBWA China helped adidas do a world-known campaign for China Pride, however TBWA Paris did a campaign for Amnesty International on abuse of Chinese atheletes. It raises serious discussion online, some blogger even said that all Chinese employees in TBWA should resign.

I think in such a global organization, it must be very hard to manage controversial accounts. In agency world, business is business. Even in the same office, agency may use different names to handle different brands in similar categories, like DBS credit cards and American Express. It did have certain level of work ethnics, but it is not tightly guarded as other industries.

I guess this may not be first incident happened - Oil Company vs. Greenpeace, Tobacaaco Company vs. Youth Anti-smoking fun. Why this incident become such a big issue because it involves in political elements - China Pride vs. China's human rights. And you can see the power of Internet getting bigger and bigger. It gives global company a big challenge to manage its online reputation.

Hopefully this scandal resolved soon. And my friends from TBWA can have a good sleep and get ready for the Olympics.

Come and Go

Many friends are leaving Beijing. It is kind of sad, but I am happy for them to start a new page of their life.

After leaving home for 3 years, I can't imagine myself to live in a place for a long time. I guess I am born to be a traveller, like what Benny Tam describe me "a bird without legs". I enjoy knowing people from different parts of the world, seeing different culture and having a different point of view on life. I am lov'in it!

Reborn

Recently I went back to work early, so I had a bit private moments to browse Internet and check out something I like.

Today I saw my friend starting a facebook event, three of them (from HK, UK and US) will take a snapshot everyday after school/work to record their lives and share with others. I think it is a brilliant way to see how people in other places live their lives. But I imagine if I join the event, all my photos will be at night on a cab. Gosh, I had such a borning life. I need to do something about it, I need a reborn.

Today I had 7 hours long meeting with the client, I feel that I am wasting my life. I can't imagine myself to work with local clients for all my life. It is just ridiculous. 7 o'clock policy needs to be reinforced.
