Earthquake At ChengDu

I had not blogged for a while. This is my first blog post after a few months. There are two reasons for me to write this blog. First, it is under the request of my friends, including Teresa at LA, Amie Chan at HK and Grace at Seattle. Second, I would like to dedicate this post to my best friend in Beijing - Yang Yang for his hard work to help the victims at ChengDu.

The earthquake at ChengDu happened two weeks ago. It was a completely shock to all Chinese people. From this instance, you can see the truth of humanity.

There are lots of touching stories during the earthquake. One of my favorite is that a baby was found safely under a collapsed 4th-floor building. Even the firemen was amazed when the mom's body was strong enough to withstand all the pressure from the building to keep her baby safe. You can see how amazing mom's love is. And she left a message on her cell phone for her baby - "If you can survive from the earthquake and get this message, please remember that mommy love you so much. You need to live your life strongly yourself." During this disaster, I can see the beauty of humanity.

And lots of volunteers took days off to help save people and clean up. One of my friend Yang Yang spent over a week to find the opportunity as a volunteer. Finally he got the offer as a translator for medicien sans frontier. He immediately invited his friends to donate materials, so he can bring all the stuff to Chengdu. Yesterday I went to shopping with him, it was kinda of em brassing for us to buy boxes of tampons and underwear. Today he is taking the flight, I wish him good luck, I am so proud of him.

On the other side, it will show you how ugly people can be. It is the best time to see the true side of people . Right after the instance, lots of people raised their hands to help donate. Some people wants to help people from the bottom of their heart, while some people takes the chance to show that they are the HERO to help save the world. I saw some of celebrities on TV and corporations try to out-bet others by raising up their donation. At my office, there are a HUGE poster at the lobby for you to write down how much you donated. Some people try to judge people by how much they donate and compete with others in amount of donation. I feel sick about this attitude. I think donation is a free will, no matter how much you donates, it still counts. I read the news yesterday and found out something even worse- Some gangsters set up website to cheat the donors. I think it is such a disgusting act to take the money from the needy.

Anyway, the earthquake is disaster for the people in Chengdu. I know the time can cure their pain for all their losses. I hope God will give those people courage to walk out from the mist, and regain their confidence to live their lives.

The earthquake at ChengDu become a moment to unite all Chinese together.
